Beloved friends,
Kolossi is no longer a village in the strict sense of the term. It is considered to be a modern small town. It is no longer the small and unimportant little village, and it can be deservedly compared to its neighboring communities.
It took a lot of time and effort, mostly team effort, to realize a great number of development programs, such as building Offices, the Community Library, Surgery, Open Theatre and Parks. What is more, the computerization of real property, the review & development of residential estates, lighting of numerous sights in the community and the completion of the great project of the final ground demarcation in the Merra area. Additionally, the expensive but vital clearance of our Community and the embellishment of numerous buildings, squares or sites.
A great number of infrastructure projects have been initiated in 2007, such as recreation of its historical background, changes in the water supply system, building a Lyceum, building new halls for the A’ Primary School, building a new hall for multiple purposes, recommendation of three (3) new pieces of land for governmental plots, big playground with a small hall and grass planting in the Primary School’s playing field.
The money given by the state, from state budgets, is used to create eternal projects that will be used by everyone now and in the future. I believe that these projects aim to the betterment our life quality.
I dream of a united Kolossi, where the authorities are supported by all and the authorities support all. Where the opposition cooperates with the authorities and helps the inhabitants but does not undermine all actions made by the authorities. The contribution of the all citizens is of vital importance for local authorities and is the foundation stone for a strong and long lasting edifice.
It would be an omission if I did not thank everyone that helped in the project of achieving all these goals. I would especially like to thank all chosen members of the Community Council. The Cultural Committee of the Community Council, the Blood donation and Enlightenment Committee, the Parents and Guardians Association, Societies, the Church Committee, the Kolossi Co-op, the Hunting Society and all the companies that supported us. The cooperation of all the afore-mentioned has helped our Community progress, the authorities more responsible and brought the inhabitants closer.
Best wishes
Loukas Demetriou
